The stats tell it all: The number one cause of death in the United States is heart disease. That’s right, more than any other disease – even cancer (a close second) – heart disease is the most likely to kill you. The United States is currently facing a “diabesity” epidemic, or a substantial increase in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome leading to diabetes and obesity, all serious risk factors for heart disease.

According to the American Heart Association, every 34 seconds someone in the US dies of a heart attack. By the time you finish reading this paragraph, another person will have lost their life. Sadly, many people do not even know they have heart disease until they experience a heart attack. These facts alone make Heart Health a critical topic to understand.

The gut-skin connection is very significant. Inflammatory processes present in the gut may manifest on the skin. Toxins are expelled with sweat, and can cause the skin to react. Like the inside of the digestive tract, the skin is covered in microbes which can be neutral, protective or pathogenic. Skin reaction may reflect what is going on inside the body. Therefore treating skin conditions only from the outside will often be ineffective and lead to other chronic issues.

The gut-brain connection occurs in two directions—from the brain to the gut, and from the gut to the brain. When a person has a “gut feeling,” or an emotional upset causes a stomachache or loss of appetite, they experience examples of the first, most familiar direction. When the gut is out of balance, inflammation results leading to a condition commonly known as leaky gut. A leaky gut will allow undigested food particles and toxins to enter into the bloodstream. Some may cross into the brain, setting the stage for diseases like Alzheimers and dementia. Recognizing the underlying contributing factors that created the gut imbalance in the first place is the first step to achieving optimal brain function .

Healthy pH levels, whether in the colon or systemic, are found when you eat a high-fiber diet, high in vegetables and fruits, healthy proteins, and healthy fats. Complement this with foods and supplements high in beneficial bacteria, omega-3 fatty acids, and digestive enzymes, and you will be supporting optimal health (which begins in the digestive system).

Choosing The Right Detox Program for You

Filed in Cleansing, Cleansing & Detox, Diet, Dietary Fiber, Digestive Health, Environmental Toxins, Gut Solutions, The Detox Strategy | Posted by Brenda Watson on 04/21/2017

Detoxification (detox), also know as cleansing, may conjure up images of people in sweat lodges dripping toxins from their bodies. Or maybe you think of people fasting for days to cleanse the impurities from their bodies. I want you to know, neither of these images are correct (or particularly user friendly!).   From a scientific perspective, detoxification refers to the body’s natural methods of self cleansing or ridding toxins that are being stored in various areas of the body.

The health benefits of detoxing are undisputed but the many commercial methods to achieve it are filled with myths, misunderstanding and ineffective and expensive treatments.

Today, there are detox foods, drinks, and detox diet plans. Advertisers would have you believe that you can achieve results by popping open a drink or eating some rare fruit that’s only found in Brazilian jungles! It’s no wonder that detoxing is a confusing subject to most people.

We need to detox detoxing ! Let me break it down for you.

I created a complete body cleansing program called the RENEW Total Body Detox program. You can discover all the details in my recent book, Detox Strategy. The program was developed over twenty years of research and testing. Some key features are:

  1. You start the detox process very slowly in order to reduce the “die off” reactions that people can experience when they try to cleanse too quickly. Does this sound familiar to you? Within the first days of over-zealous “detox shock” treatments, you may have become run-down, irritable, depressed, nauseous, or fixated on food. You may have also experienced headaches, diarrhea, or dizziness. Those unpleasant experiences may have been  enough to make you want to give up. Most of all, I don’t want that to be your experience!
  2. The RENEW program uses your body’s own natural detoxification processes to eliminate toxins such as cigarette residue, chemicals, heavy metals and environmental elements. Instead they can be converted to waste, which is then easily eliminated from the body. RENEW gently stimulates your body’s natural channels of elimination including the colon, lungs, skin, and kidneys. Ultimately the RENEW program supports the liver and lymphatic system which results in purifying the bloodstream.
  3. By targeting the bloodstream, the RENEW program replenishes the cells, tissues and organs of the body. Ultimately, the goal is to restore your blood so it becomes as pure as possible. This can only be achieved by a program that targets the total body like RENEW.

Follow me on this journey over the next five weeks as I detox detoxing. At the end of the program, I am confident you will feel better, have more energy and be healthier – from the inside out.
